OUR HERD
Our herd consists of Angus-based cows that are selectively cross-bred to Hereford, Simmental and Sim-Angus sires. We believe cross breeding is an essential strategy to improve the longevity, health and productivity of a herd. We breed both in the spring and fall, and AI all of our cows and heifers.
Bred heifers and pairs are available at several Missouri sales in the spring and fall. We are a Show Me Select breeder and adhere to their best practices throughout the herd. If you are looking for high-quality heifers or would like more information, please contact us.
Most importantly, our cows are our most important asset. We take tremendous pride in their performance. That's why we do everything possible to ensure their safety, health and longevity.
Mershon Cattle also participates in the American Hereford Association's National Reference Sire Program. As a part of this prestigious program, we collect data on the steers to monitor their outcomes.
PASTURE PARTNERS
A win-win for land owners and farm managers. This innovative program brings more people into the industry and ensures that our cattle receive the highest quality of care. Carefully selected, our pasture partners raise/manage our cattle without the capital requirements and market risk. STOCKER PROGRAM
Mershon Cattle operates a stocker program at our feedlot and at pasture partner sites. We feed steers and heifers retaining ownership to harvest. Nutrition and health protocols are essential, and data is collected to monitor progress and outcomes. Over 95% consistently grade choice or higher at harvest.
