Cattle Hand

This is a great job for anyone who loves working with cattle. It is mainly responsible for the daily oversight, handling, care and feeding of cattle as part of the Mershon Cattle team.  It is full-time with benefits and bonus opportunity. Requirements & Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with beef cattle on a ranch or farm, including calving, sorting, tagging, and handling large groups of cows and calves. 

  • Understanding of cattle nutrition, health and care to ensure that cattle are raised in a high-quality environment.

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

  • Ability to operate large farm machinery including tractors and drive trailers

  • Regularly lift 80 lbs. or greater

  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required; CDL preferred but not required

  • Pass a background check and drug test.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Willingness to work as part of a team on a variety of farm jobs (Many opportunities exist for working independently as knowledge base grows) 

  • Safe operation of farm machinery and trucks.

  •  Flexibility and patience

  •  Excellent work ethic and ability to maintain a long workday

  •  A passion for agriculture and specifically beef cattle

  •  Strong verbal communications skills 

  •   Willingness to participate in additional training, such as Beef Quality Assurance certification
